Leased Lines / Circuits

What is a Leased Line?
A data leased line is a dedicated static line which is used solely for the transmission of data from one point to another. Such lines may serve Automatic Teller Machines (ATM), Wide Area Networks (WAN) and also Internet resellers. These lines are specially configured to meet the data transmission speed of your company.

How does it work?
A telephone line is assigned for private use having no means of connecting to the public telephone system. This line is configured to meet required speed of the subscriber and is connected to the subscriber’s network via a CSU/DSU and a router, so data transfer can be executed to a specific location, whether it be direct data, voice or internet access.

Benefits
Leased Lines / Circuits are very effective for Telephony and Data transmission because it is a dedicated connection service between specified locations.   This service is mostly targeted to companies requiring a data or communications link between specified locations and companies desirous of re-selling internet services to the public.

Availability
The Leased Lines / Circuits service is only offered in Trinidad by TSTT. TSTT provides two scopes of the Leased Line service :
• Leased line with an internet portal.
• Leased Line without internet.

The internet access scope is further split into two types
• PIPENET
• TRADENET (with the TRADENET solely developed for internet service re-sellers)

TSTT’s Leased Line/Circuit service is not available throughout Trinidad and Tobago due to its sensitivity and limitation of 18,000 feet from the exchange office.  It is available in the following regions:
• Region 1: Chaguaramas, Port of Spain, Maraval, Diego Martin West, St. James, St. Clair and parts of Woodbrook.
• Region 2: San Juan, St. Augustine, Arima, Mausica, Piarco, Trincity and Sangre Grande.
• Region 3: Siparia, Point Lisas, San Fernando, Galeota, Penal, Point Fortin, Marabella, Rio Claro, Mayaro and Gasparillo.
• Region 4: Scarborough, Mt. Pleasant.
• Region 5: Chaguanas, Couva and Claxton Bay.

Costing
The pricing of this service is divided into two options:

• Option A - this option is for subscribers who do not require an internet portal, because of this the cost varies according to the location, either connections within the same exchange or connections across exchanges.
